The Bangaree shed home on a hillside above a vineyard, with sheep grazing

Steel-framed Class 1a home · Owner-builder kit

The Bangaree

  • 4 bedrooms
  • 2.5 bathrooms
  • 216 sqm living
  • 334.5 sqm under roof
  • Longhouse design

A longhouse built for acreage

The Bangaree is a longhouse-style shed home with an open floor plan and high ceilings throughout. The layout puts the master bedroom at the far end of the house for privacy, with living areas flowing through the centre. The rear section is left flexible, use it for horse stables, a workshop, a home gym, or a double garage. The Bangaree is one of our most popular designs for owner-builders on acreage.

Everything you see here is what we manufacture ourselves. You build it as owner-builder, which is where the saving comes from, and we support you through approvals, engineering and certification.

The shed end is the part most people miss

The garage and stables area is engineered to the same Class 1a standard as the rest of the house, not to shed standard. That is deliberate. It means the space is not locked into being storage.

Set up as a double garage and workshop it is exactly that. But the structure will just as happily take a two bedroom self contained space for family, guests, a home office or a business, without re-engineering the building or bolting anything on later.

The roller doors are not fixed either. They can go in the gable end as shown, moved to the side wall, or run as two doors on the gable, whatever suits the way you come and go from the block.

What you can actually do with it depends on your block and your council, and that is a conversation worth having early. The point is the building is already built for it.
